Types of rolling

silicon carbide rolling

1. Classification by type of rolled metal
Rolling steel products are called black rolls.
Products rolling non-ferrous metal materials (copper, aluminum, etc.) are called non-ferrous rollers.
2. Classification according to the temperature at which the rolled material is rolled
The rolling temperature higher than the recrystallization temperature of the rolled material is called hot rolling, and the corresponding roll is called hot rolling roll.
The rolling temperature lower than the recrystallization temperature of the rolled material is called cold rolling, and the corresponding rolls are called cold rolls.
3. Classification according to the shape of rolled products
Hot rolled strip products are called hot strip rolls, and by analogy, they include: cold strip rolls, plate steel rolls, profile steel rolls, seamless steel pipe rolls, bar and wire rod rolls, etc.
4. Classification according to the function or location of the rolling mill on the rolling line
The ones used in billet mills are called billet rolls, and so on, including rough rolls, intermediate rolls, pre-finishing rolls, finishing rolls,
Pre-finishing rollers, final finish-rolling rollers, cross-cut smoothing rollers, slitting smoothing rollers, slitting rollers, vertical rollers, edge rolls, perforated rollers, tube rolling rollers, tube stripping rollers, tension reducing rollers, straightening Roller etc.
5. Classification according to the position of the rollers on the rolling mill
The rolls that are in direct contact with the rolled material are called work rolls.
The supporting rollers of the rolling mill are called back-up rollers.
The roll between the work roll and the backup roll of a multi-roll mill is called the intermediate roll.
6. Classification according to roll material
According to the material category, rolls are divided into four major categories: cast steel rolls, cast iron rolls, forged steel rolls and powder metallurgy rolls. Each category is further subdivided according to the material of the working part of the roll and the main alloy elements.
7. Classification according to blank manufacturing method
Integral roll (also called conventional casting roll)
Laminating rollers (wash lamination, centrifugal lamination, CPC lamination, spray deposition lamination, etc.). in:Rollers manufactured by the full-flush composite method of flushing and overflowing liquid metal from the core are called full-flush rollers;
A semi-rinsing roller that only flushes the liquid metal from the core of the roller body to the upper roller neck is called a semi-flush roller;
Composite rolls manufactured by centrifugal composite casting method are called centrifugal composite rolls;
Composite rolls manufactured using the CPC (Continuous Composite Casting) method are called CPC composite rolls.
Mechanical combination roll
Rolls manufactured by mechanical combination are called combination rolls.
Rolls manufactured by mechanical combination and applying a certain pressure along the axial direction are called prestressed rolls.
8. Classification according to roller body size.
Rolls are divided into large rolls and small rolls according to the size of the roll body.
Cast steel rolls - those with a roll body diameter ≤500mm are called small steel rolls
Cast iron rollers - those with a roller body diameter ≤540mm are called small iron rollers.
Forged steel rolls - those with a roll body diameter ≤300mm are called small cold rolls.
Roller rings - those with net weight ≤1 ton and maximum diameter ≤1150mm are called small cast roller rings.
